Welcome to Volunteer Registration!

Thank you for your support of the 2015 ISC Corporate Challenge!  What started as a way to promote healthy lifestyles to the central Indiana corporate community has evolved into an annual tradition for employees, industry competitors, and the greater central Indiana area. The multi-day event involves friendly competition, fitness and office camaraderie for everyone in the office.  This year’s event will feature 160 Central Indiana Companies competing Saturday, September 19 & 26.

Each company will compete in two categories (a division and an industry) based on the total number of Indiana employees working for the company and the industry that the company is involved in. Corporate Challenge events include a 5K run, 10K run, 5K fitness walk, ½-mile run, team medley relay, basketball shoot-out, tug-of-war, football accuracy throw, golf chipping challenge, soccer shootout, frisbee toss, cornhole, sand volleyball, bowling, cycling, obstacle course relay, parallel parking competition, pit stop challenge and new to 2015 the tennis target challenge. The 10K and 5K runs are again open to the public. We welcome and encourage family and friends to participate in these two events!

As with past events, Indiana Sports Corp would not be able to manage an event like this without the help of volunteers. We would like to invite you to register and select volunteer positions for the ISC Corporate Challenge.

Key volunteer information you should know:

1. REQUIREMENTS: Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older for most volunteer positions, however an exception can be made for those participating as part of an organized group such as Boy Scouts, Track teams, etc. pending approval of event organizers.

2. UNIFORM: Volunteers will receive a uniform shirt that should be worn with self-supplied, clean and well maintained tan khaki pants, shorts or skirt and comfortable shoes. Uniform pick-up will be Thursday, September 17, Wednesday September 23 and Thursday, September 24 from 4-6 p.m. at the Indiana Sports Corp office (201 S. Capitol Ave, Suite 1200 Indianapolis, IN 46225).

3. TRAINING: General information pamphlets about the details of the event will be provided at uniform pick-up.

4. BACKGROUND SCREENING: Indiana Sports Corp (ISC) requires background screens for all volunteer positions that involve youth. These positions are marked with an asterisk (*) within the registration site that displays all available shifts. These background screens are done by an independent third party at NO COST TO YOU. Once you have signed up for a youth-specific volunteer position, you will receive an e-mail from ISC one month before the event with the link to National Center for Safety Initiatives (NCSI) for the background screen. NCSI will collect the necessary information from you directly and conduct the background screen. Your information is maintained by NCSI; ISC does not have access to your personal information.

Upon completion of your background screen, you will receive an e-mail directly from NCSI. The email will confirm that you have filled out the necessary information for the check and let you know it is processing. To check the status and results of your check you will need to return to www.ncsisafe.com and on the bottom click “check your background screening status”. You will not receive any communication from NCSI or ISC if you have passed (“green light”). If you failed (“red light”) the background screen for any reason including an incomplete application you will receive notification from NCSI. The notification will not include any other information or explanation supporting NCSI’s determination; however, the notification will include contact information should you want to discuss the results with an NCSI representative.

If you receive a red light notification, you will not be able to volunteer for youth-specific positions and your volunteer assignments will be cancelled. ISC will not ask you for details or explanations for a red light notification, and cannot assist you in researching or understanding a red light notification. ISC will abide by the notification provided by NCSI, and will not “override” that designation under any circumstances. You may have the opportunity to sign up for another volunteer opportunity to the extent that other assignments are available.

ISC follows the National Council of Youth Sports (NCYS) guidelines; a red light (fail) designation results for any of the following:

·     Any felony (any crime punishable by confinement greater than one year)

o  Defined on the basis of exposure for the offense for which the defendant was convicted, pled guilty or pled nolo contendere. If pled down, then the crime to which the defendant ultimately pled.

o  Any lesser crime involving force or threat of force against a person

o  Any lesser crime in which sexual relations is an element, including “victimless” crimes of a sexual nature (including pornography).

o  Any lesser crime involving controlled substances (not paraphernalia or alcohol).

o  Any lesser crime involving cruelty to animals
